When Bishop Ricken, the current bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay, was the Bishop of Cheyenne, WY, he prayed for a contemplative community of sisters, perhaps Carmelites, who could pray for vocations and the well being of the Diocese.

No Carmelite women came forward. However, Fr. Daniel Schneider, a Carmelite priest, offered to begin a Carmelite Monastery for men. One of the founding monks was from a family whose business was brewing and producing gourmet coffee. Within a short time, Mystic Monk Coffee was born!
