Our History
What is now known as Cathedral Book & Gift Store opened on
December 16, 1946, as a lending library in the home of Mary Stenger
near downtown Green Bay, WI.
Mary Lou Ziga took over management of
the library in 1949, and it was moved to a house on Jefferson Street where it
was incorporated as a non-profit organization named St. Catherine's Book Store.
Mary Lou Ziga continued to manage the store until 2003.
In 2003 Rosemary Reedy took over as interim manager.
Due to financial challenges with the store, Msgr. Roy Klister and Cathedral Parish got
involved in 2005, and in 2006, the store was moved to its current location
at 131 S. Madison Street.
With the support of Bishop Ricken and Fr. John Girotti, a new
board of directors was formed in 2008.
Ann Kieltyka was named Store Manager in 2011. In 2013, the name of
the store was changed to Cathedral Book & Gift.
In 2023, Jacob Van Schyndel became our new manager, leading a staff of part-time
associates all devoted to the store’s mission.
In 2026 the store will celebrate 80 years of serving the Green Bay Diocese!
